I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of North Texas.  I received my Ph.D. from the Department of Government at the University of Texas at Austin, where I was also the manager of the Politics of Race and Ethnicity (PRE) Lab. I received my B.A. in political science from Vassar College.

I work at the intersection of comparative political behavior, race and ethnic politics, and public policy. I research how identity-based differences -- those rooted in ethnicity, migration, gender, or sexuality -- shape public opinion and political behavior, and how to effectively address the negative consequences of these differences. Much of my work focuses on Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), a region firmly embedded in the European Union (EU) yet subject to strategic Russian influence.

My work appears in the American Political Science Review, the British Journal of Political Science, Comparative Political Studies, and the European Journal of Political Research, amongst other journals, and has been supported by the Association for Slavic, East European, & Eurasian Studies, the Eastern Focus Fellowship, Fulbright, the National Scholarship Programme of the Slovak Republic, and the U.S. Embassy Small Grants Program.
